Julie Viens was born in the city of Omaha, Nebraska on September 23rd 1970. Throughout her childhood she has lived in the states of Nebraska, Colorado, and California. From and early age she was intersted in pursuing visual arts. During High School, she moved to Los Angeles, California with her sister and her father. Graduating from Fairfax High School in 1988, she first attended college at UC Riverside, as a Bio-Medical Science Major for two years. Deciding science was not the career path for her, Julie returned to her interest in fine art. Leaving UC Riverside at the age of 20, she attended Art Center at night as Illustration Major, while attending additional classes at Santa Monica City College by day.

At 21 Julie spent several years concentrating on rendering human anatomy, in hopes of pencilling comic books. During this time, she additionaly began learning several valuable desktop pre-press techniques. Deciding that the printing industry was a much more stable work enviroment, Julie switched gears and began accepting freelance and full-time work in digital pre-press. Mastering the Macintosh platform, and applying her skills to layout and retouching quickly earned her work with several clients such as: EarthLink, Mattel, Toyota, Honda, Caesar's Palace, Mc Donald's, Yamaha, Suzuki, Cal Fed, Capitol Records, Rhino Records, Pedigree-Kal-Kan, and many others.

Residing in urban sprawl of Los Angeles, she lives with her family and friends. These days, Julie can be easily be found behind the computer, or easel. Of late she has devoted much of her free time to incorporating the Renaissance and Dutch-Masters' style of painting into her own works. Many of the items displayed on this site show the varying types of media she enjoys working in.
