The illustration of the writing quill, inkpots, envelope, and letter are another one of the pieces in the series of smaller sized illustrations for the 2001 Fall edition of bLink Magazine. For this illustration, I used the idea of tracing genealogy by means of letters from relatives who would have used alternate tools than we have today. Again, several washes of sepia toned acrylic paint were layered ontop one another to simulate aged coloration, and refelect the flavor of the rest of the pieces in this series.
