Oils on Board. 12" x 16" Work in Progress.
Valentine is my first painting on treated masonite board (Clayboard). When I began this piece I had a great time designing the outfit. And to this day I am still happy with how the leather of her costuming feels. The chains were added well into the painting, to help break up the background space. I would have to say this piece was instrumental in my coming to terms with how to handle oils, and learning to walk away from a piece when it is too wet too work on, and should dry. While not my strongest painting, it still is deserving on it's own place for all of the flaws I still see in it, and for all the things I learned while working on it. I had originally wanted to give Valentine away to a family member. They were not exactly happy to recieve or see it, so I delicately set it to the side for now.
